Sustainable development

Le Havre-Octeville Airport is a vital gateway to the region and a driver of local economic development. Since SEALAR took over its management, the airport has adopted a structured CSR approach, aiming to complement and strengthen existing initiatives to protect the environment, value employees, and contribute sustainably to the region. Every action is part of a continuous improvement process, balancing performance and responsibility.

Taking action for a more sustainable planet

Le Havre-Octeville Airport is actively committed to reducing its environmental impact and protecting natural resources. This approach combines concrete actions already in place with the gradual implementation of new initiatives, in a spirit of continuous improvement.

Assess, control and reduce environmental impact

To better understand and reduce its impact, SEALAR has established an environmental steering committee comprised of employees from each of the group's airports. This cross-functional team coordinates actions between the different entities and proposes new initiatives. This collective monitoring allows for the regular evaluation of practices and the implementation of effective solutions to limit the airport's environmental footprint.

Reduce our carbon emissions

As part of the SEALAR Group's CSR policy, Le Havre-Octeville Airport is implementing measures to progressively reduce its carbon footprint. These actions are part of a comprehensive approach, similar to that of other airports in Normandy, aimed at anticipating the energy transition in the aviation sector. The airport plans, in particular, to optimize the energy consumption of its infrastructure and to test more environmentally friendly solutions, within a framework of continuous improvement and progress towards ambitious standards such as ACA 2 certification.

Protecting biodiversity and preserving natural environments

Le Havre-Octeville Airport collaborates with the Aéro Biodiversité to preserve natural areas on the site. These areas constitute biodiversity reservoirs where regular surveys allow for the identification and monitoring of species present, ensuring the implementation of appropriate measures to protect local flora and fauna.

Reduce and recycle waste

The environmental action group at Le Havre-Octeville airport is working to identify ways to improve waste reduction, sorting, and recycling. This initiative, still in its development phase, aligns with the SEALAR approach of sharing best practices between airports and pooling resources.

Reduce our water consumption

The airport is committed to exploring solutions for more responsible water management. The environmental team is exploring ways to optimize future consumption and raise awareness among employees and partners about sustainable practices.

Take noise pollution into account

In order to reduce the impact of noise on local residents, Le Havre-Octeville Airport offers a noise nuisance reporting form, allowing residents to submit their observations and contribute to the dialogue with the airport to adapt its practices.

Committing to the environment means taking action every day for a more responsible airport. At Le Havre-Octeville, reducing the carbon footprint, preserving biodiversity, sustainably managing resources and listening to local residents guide a process of continuous improvement, collectively driven by the teams.

Growing together: valuing our employees

At Le Havre-Octeville Airport, employee well-being, safety, and development are at the heart of the CSR approach. Every initiative aims to create a stimulating and safe working environment, fostering cohesion and skills development.

Workplace well-being and safety

At Le Havre-Octeville Airport, employee safety and well-being are a top priority. All legal obligations are strictly adhered to, and preventative measures are in place to guarantee a safe working environment. This daily vigilance creates a reliable framework where everyone can carry out their duties with peace of mind.

Promoting cohesion within each airport but also between airports

In 2025, Le Havre-Octeville Airport participated in employee exchanges with the Rouen-Vallée de Seine site, allowing for the pooling of skills and strengthening mutual support between teams. More broadly, these initiatives are part of a dynamic of synergy between the four Normandy airports, with joint projects, exchanges of best practices, and regular collaborations that strengthen regional cohesion and develop a shared culture of cooperation and sustainable performance.

Talent and career development

Le Havre-Octeville Airport makes it a point of honour to offer each employee training and development opportunities, promoting professional development and internal promotion.

The airport is also committed to introducing the airport sector and aeronautical professions to younger generations.

Inclusion and civic engagement

Le Havre-Octeville Airport is actively committed to promoting inclusion and offering opportunities to young people and people with disabilities. In 2025, the site hosted 20 Year 9 interns, all of whom were also preparing for the Basic Aeronautical Certificate (BIA), allowing them to discover how an airport operates and to familiarize themselves with careers in the aeronautics industry.

Furthermore, the airport has hosted political refugees, including a young Ukrainian and a Nigerian, to provide them with initial professional experience and facilitate their integration into the community. These initiatives contribute to strengthening the airport's culture of solidarity and openness, while also raising employee awareness of diversity and the importance of inclusion.

At the heart of the airport, it is the employees who drive the site's dynamism. By cultivating safety, well-being, cohesion and talent development, Le Havre-Octeville Airport creates an environment where everyone can grow, learn and contribute to an ambitious and sustainable collective project.

Contributing to local sustainable development

Le Havre-Octeville Airport is fully integrated into the economic, social, and tourism life of the region. Beyond its role as an air carrier, the airport actively supports local initiatives, builds relationships with stakeholders in the area, and proposes concrete actions that promote the attractiveness and dynamism of Normandy. Every initiative aims to combine performance, responsibility, and a long-term commitment to the region.

Territorial development

The airport regularly organizes events to showcase its facilities and professions to local residents and young people. These include Open Days, Escape Day, Runway Day, as well as tours of the control tower and presentations of airport vehicles, such as fire trucks and service vehicles.

These initiatives raise awareness of careers in aeronautics, strengthen ties with the local community and contribute to the attractiveness of the region.

Le Havre-Octeville Airport is also involved in Normandie AeroEspace to strengthen its links with local industries and support the development of aeronautical and drone activities.

Responsible aviation and innovation

Le Havre-Octeville Airport aligns with SEALAR's long-term vision for more sustainable and innovative aviation. Although projects are still in their initial stages since the site's acquisition, SEALAR is already incorporating avenues such as decarbonized and electric aviation into its planning. These strategic directions reflect thegroup's commitment to anticipating developments in the aviation sector and preparing responsible solutions for the future, while progressively assessing their feasibility.

Continuous improvement and sustainability

Le Havre-Octeville Airport works closely with SEALAR and the owner to ensure the sustainable and optimized operation of the terminal and infrastructure. Thanks to SEALAR's in-house expertise, each process can be continuously assessed and improved, enabling the identification of concrete solutions and step-by-step progress towards increasingly responsible management. This structured approach ensures that the airport's practices evolve in a manner consistent with sustainability and environmental performance objectives.

Deeply rooted in local life, Le Havre-Octeville Airport plays a vital role in the economic, social, and tourism development of the region. By opening its doors, developing partnerships, and supporting local initiatives, it contributes to responsible growth, serving the community and enhancing regional appeal.
